Mason City man allegedly flashes handgun, robs couple of cigarettes before disappearing into North End apartment

MASON CITY – A nicotine-craving Mason City man allegedly flashed a gun to intimidate a couple before robbing them of their cigarettes, police said today.

Officers arrested 59-year-old McKinley Dudley Jr. of Mason City early Monday morning in connection with a robbery that occurred around 9:00 p.m. Sunday.

A man and woman reported that they were walking along North Federal Avenue, south of 9th Street when they were approached by a man who according to one victim “flashed” a handgun.

They were then told to walk with the suspect to an apartment building in the 100 block of 5thStreet N.W. At the apartment building the suspect took cigarettes from one of the victims and went into another apartment.

As a result of the investigation Dudley was arrested and charged with Robbery in the second degree. He was booked at the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
