OBIT: Martin Jones, 95, of Charles City

Martin Jones, 95, of Charles City, passed away Friday, September 7, 2018.
Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 10, 2018.

A private family funeral service and burial at Calvary Cemetery will take place at a later date.

Martin Junior Jones, the son of Martin and Katie (Poisal) Jones, was born on April 27, 1923 in Waverly, Iowa. He attended school in Clarksville. Martin served his country during WWII in the United States Airforce. He was united in marriage to Cleo Majewski on November 14, 1946.

Martin worked for the Oliver Corp. and V. F. Moltz doing construction. He built many homes and businesses in the area including the Frank Lloyd Wright home.

Martin was a volunteer fireman for 14 years, a member of the Firefighters Association, American Legion, and a charter member of the Lions Club in Floyd.

Martin enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening. He was also an award winning wood carver.

Living family members include his wife of 72 years, Cleo; daughters: Malinda (Doug) Welton and Tara Lane; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 2 nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ardith Delker; brother, Arnold Jones; and grandson, James Welton.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care Martin received.
