OBIT: John “Johnny” Lampson, 94, of Charles City

John “Johnny” Lampson, 94, of Charles City, passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home.

A funeral service for Johnny Lampson will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home with Sister Diana Blong from Immaculate Conception Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in rural Charles City, Iowa.

A gathering of family and friends will be one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at Hauser Funeral Home.

John “Johnny” Milton Lampson, the son of Charlie and Alma (Thompson) Lampson, was born December 29, 1923 in Chickasaw County, Iowa. Johnny attended schools in Chickasaw County until the 8th grade. On April 23, 1949, he was united in marriage to Charline “Sandy” Grimm in Austin, Minnesota. Johnny farmed for many years until he sold the farm in 1992. During that time he also worked at Oliver from 1943 to 1975.

Johnny was a member of the Moose, UAW 1315, and Credit Union. Johnny loved to go dancing with Sandy at the Moose, VFW, and the Labor Center. He also enjoyed gardening, yard care, fishing, hunting, and especially playing the accordion and guitar.

Living family members include his brother, Wendall (Susie) Lampson of Nashua; half-brother, Glen Huffman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Sandy Lampson on December 24, 2010; parents; two sisters, Mildred Lore and Nina Smith; one step-sister; two brothers, Russel and Charles; and two half-brothers, Harvey and Harold.
