Fake social worker reported in Charles City

CCPD

CHARLES CITY – A man posing as a social worker has been reported to police in Charles City.

Charles City police say they took a report of a “white male with a full beard stopping at houses claiming to be with Department of Human Services (DHS). He is not with them.”

Charles City police also noted that Mason City and surrounding communities also took similar reports. Days ago, NIT reported that the Mason City Police Department received a call at 10:08 a.m. on Monday, August 13, 2018, to a residence in the 2800 block of 16th Street SW. The caller reported that a female had come to the door of the residence, identified herself an employee with Child Protection Services, and said she was checking on a report of unattended children. Officers responded and investigated the incident.

Police remind residents not to let anyone into your house unless you are sure who they are and to call police immediately if you see something suspicious.
