Mason City house raid leads to one arrest

MASON CITY – Police raided a Mason City house and arrested one man for identity theft and another house was raided in Sheffield, leading to two arrests.

On Thursday, August 16, 2018, the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force Special Operations Group served a search warrant at 422 N Georgia in Mason City. The Mason City Police Department had opened a fraud investigation and secured a search warrant for the residence. A second search warrant was also served by law enforcement personnel at 415 Thompson Street in Sheffield.

As a result of the search warrants, officers seized vehicles and documents that were part of the ongoing fraud investigation. Jason Shaw, age 43, was taken into custody in Mason City and charged with Identity Theft, a class C felony. Shaw is currently being held at the Cerro Gordo County Jail. Dennis Childers, age 61, and Julie Childers, age 51, were taken into custody in Sheffield on outstanding warrants from Arizona. They are currently awaiting extradition.

The Mason City Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force, the NCINTF Special Operations Group, the Sheffield Police Department,the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the Garner Police Department, and the Clear Lake Police Department.
