DETOUR ROUTE

MASON CITY – A major detour on Mason City’s 12th Street NW begins Monday.

The 12th Street NW Bridge Over Willow Creek Replacement Project is scheduled to begin the week of June 25th. 12th Street NW near the North Taft Avenue intersection will be closed to traffic for the duration of the bridge replacement which is expected to be completed later this fall.

The detour for the 12th Street NW closure will be signed prior to the street closure. The detour will redirect traffic onto Taft Avenue, 4th Street SW (Highway 122) and on Pierce Avenue. Access to 12th Street NW businesses will be maintained, as will the eastern access onto Taft Avenue north of 12th Street.

Please follow the detour route or find an alternate route and allow for extra travel time. Do not enter a work zone and use caution when driving near one. Questions may be directed to the Mason City Engineering Department by calling 421-3605.

  1. Now if they find a reason to tear up 19th St., Kentucky, Monroe, and Eisenhower the best way to get across town will be by air!
And no, not pissin’ or moaning, just stating fact.

  2. Bartz is whatever/where ever the money is – We believe he was a democrap then turned sideways to get elected – Happens all the time – but at heart like Paul Ryan the House speaker for the repubs – he’s is a rino demorat.

  3. Rumor has it Worth county supervisor Merlin Bartz recently bought the property on Taft and 12th st. – will this make him richer as did the land he somehow managed to buy before Loves truck stop went in at its location in Floyd.Ia. People in Mitchell county say he owns alot of property along the 80 million dollar Alliant energy pipeline route that Stanley Walk another county supervisor from Mitchell county is going ape crap for – Port Authority -Trump pulled America out of that bad trade deal so why are these 2 democrats still pushing it – taxpayers in Mitchell county 34 million and Worth county taxpayers 26 million – state picks up the rest – nice – (ps )- Any CAFO’s on the planned rip off to taxpayers ? Keep digging = for that much money its worth it.

  4. Im gunna be a engineer, must not take to many smarts to tear up 3 of the busiest roads in town at the same time. hey lets make it 4 lets tear up Monroe for a few months

    1. If they did not tear up the roads to fix them you would complain that the roads are crappy and need to be repaired.
      You people are never happy!

        1. You can fix the roads and be smart enough not to tie up the whole town. That’s not pissing and moaning, it’s common sense.
