OBIT: Robert “Bob” Bonwell, 66, of Charles City

Robert “Bob” Bonwell, 66, of Charles City, passed away at his home Tuesday, May 22, 2018.
Funeral services for Robert Bonwell will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Hauser Funeral Home with Pastor Wendy Johannesen officiating. Burial will be at Sunnyside Memory Gardens in Rural Charles City.

Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 1, 2018 and continue one hour prior to the services on Saturday.

Robert “Bob” Kent Bonwell, the son of Merlin and Dorothy (Nicholson) Bonwell, was born September 26, 1951. He attended school in Charles City and graduated high school in 1969. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and was active from 1970-1974 and then in the reserves from 1974-1977. Bob served two years in Korea at DMZ and one year in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Bob attended Hawkeye Community College where he obtained certifications in multiple areas of study. For 30 years he was an electrician for the IBEW Local Union 288.

Bob was a member of the VFW and a lifetime member of MLB Association. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, listening to music, reading and watching sports (especially baseball and auto racing).

Bob is survived by his daughter, Tonya (Kevin) Hicks; sons: Bill Mangano and Bob (Deana) Mangano; grandchildren: Misty, Travis, Caysie, Dylan, Robert, Madison, Ben, Taylor, Elizabeth, Wyatt, and Blake; great-grandchildren: Skylar, Cloe, Jaylie, Caylie, and Trinnity; and brother, Brad Bonwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, American Cancer Society, or to the family.
