Harding Avenue and 20th Street SW in Mason City, where the pit bull attacked.

MASON CITY – A woman out for a walk in a Mason City neighborhood was attacked by a pit bull and saved by two persons who intervened.

The incident took place on the afternoon of May 2, 2018.  At 2:04 PM that day, Mason City police officers were called to the intersection of 20th Street SW and South Harding to respond to a dog attack.

An unidentified woman, who lives nearby, was out for a walk at this time and according to our source, was near a home at 1936 South Taft Avenue.  Allegedly, a woman was letting a pit bull dog out of the house when it broke free and got through a fence there.  It then set upon attacking the woman who was walking in the vicinity.  NIT is told by our source that two persons “were working around there and came to her rescue.”  Mason City Chief of police Jeff Brinkley confirms that “the victim had been assisted by witnesses.”  NIT is working at this time to get details from them about the incident.

Chief Brinkley confirms that as a result of the dog attack, an ambulance was called to the scene.

“The victim was treated at the Emergency Room. I am unaware of the extent of her injuries,” Chief Brinkley tells NIT.

Police then conducted an investigation into the alleged pit bull attack.

“The investigation led officers to speak with Alicia Seidel at her residence,” apparently 1936 South Taft Avenue.  “Seidel was identified as an owner of the dog,” Chief Brinkley explained

As a result of the incident, Seidel was subsequently cited for violations of city ordinance for animal at large, dangerous/vicious animal, and no city animal license. She was cited and released and has a scheduled court appearance on May 21.

To bad so many loser’s need pit bulls. Can’t afford vet care and liability insurance you shouldn’t be able to own a pet.

owner needs to be arrested and held on a serious misdemeanor charge. Dog taken away.

and the rest of the story will be the owner has NO money, NO insurance, No plans to pay restitution

To bad she didn’t have a CCW.

Why is it only pitbulls that make the paper… I’m sure their has been other dogs in Mason City that have bitten someone, but you don’t see them making headlines…

I believe there is a difference between being bitten by a dog and being attacked by a dog, pit bulls attack

and they bite and do not release the bite.

Not true at all. Do some research before spitting off your ignorance. Just like religion, and descrimination. People pass this shit around like it’s fact, and everyone is too dumb to look anything up or do actual research themselves.

Despite being regulated in over 900 U.S. cities, pit bulls contributed to 74% of dog bite related fatalities in 2017.
Pit bulls make up only about 6.5% of the total U.S.dog population.

Wow, calling people dumb and ignorant but can’t spell discrimination. There is not “e” in it you ignorant dummy.

I’m shocked , Soon I’m going to be in the same boat as that woman who was attacked . My neighbors in back of me have a couple of fine ones .
