Southern Minnesota residents hurt in North Iowa auto accident

RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A man and a woman from Southern Minnesota were hurt today in a chain reaction crash involving 4 vehicles on Interstate 35 in Cerro Gordo county.

Salina Bredow, age 35 of Albert Lea, was driving her 2005 Chevy Uplander southbound on Interstate 35 near mile marker 184.5 Friday, May 4 around 11:55 AM when she lost control of the vehicle. The Uplander struck a cable rain guard, causing a chain reaction of cars to slow down. As a result, a 2014 Peterbuilt semi driven by 45-year-old Dave Hofer of Huron, South Dakota struck a 2013 Buick Enclave driven by 79-year-old Roger Miedtke of Fairmont, Minnesota. The Enclave then made contact with a 2010 Ford Escape driven by 52-year-old Daryel Hamlin of Clear Lake.

Miedtke and Bredow were injured in the crash. Both were taken to Mercy Hospital in Mason City by local ambulance service.

The Iowa State Patrol says the accident is under investigation.
