ANKENY – Courtney Tusler and Sydney Fullerton both shot 90s on Friday to lead the NIACC women’s golf team during the third round of the NJCAA Region XI tournament at the Otter Creek Golf Course.
NIACC shot a 375 on Friday and sits in fourth place with a 361-359-375 heading into Saturday’ fourth and final round. Iowa Western leads the tournament at 1,001, DMACC is in second with a 1,045 and Southeastern is in third with a 1,073.
Tusler is in a tie for seventh place overall with a 88-83-90 – 261. Fullerton is in 12th place overall at 89-93-90 – 272.
The cut line to qualify for the national tournament is 279.
NIACC’s Ashley Alert is in 17th place at 98-91-96 – 285 and Morgan Luecht is in 18th place at 92-95-99 – 286. Also for the Lady Trojans, Katelyn Loegering is in 19th place at 94-93-100 – 287.
The winning team and the next 10 individuals (not from the winning team) will represent the region at the NJCAA Division I national tournament at the Longbow Golf Course in Mesa, Ariz. May 14-17.
The fourth round of the tournament resumes at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
