Opioid Crisis Town Hall Meeting to be held in Mason City

MASON CITY – The Iowa Harm Reduction Coalition will be hosting an Opioid Crisis Town Hall Meeting on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 1-3PM at Prairie Ridge Treatment Center in Mason City. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

“This event is intended to facilitate discussion and create allies for the long term in battling the current and future opioid problem in our county, state, and country,” said Sam Smith, RN, Disease Prevention Specialist at the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health.

State lawmakers, local law enforcement, medical experts, and community leaders will discuss the current challenges and concerns surrounding injection drug use and the opioid epidemic in north central Iowa. Senator Amanda Ragan and Representative Sharon Steckman will join Mason City and Mitchell County law enforcement and University of Iowa emergency medicine doctors to present diverse perspectives on the problem and work together to discuss solutions.

This event is brought to you by the Iowa Harm Reduction Coalition, Prairie Ridge Treatment Center, and the Cerro Gordo County Department of Public Health.
