OBIT: Anita “Gerry” Bray, 84, of Charles City

Anita “Gerry” Bray, 84, of Charles City, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at Chautauqua Guest Home #2 in Charles City, Iowa.

A funeral service for Gerry Bray will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd with Pastor Wendy Johannesen officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Floyd.

Visitation will be at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 22, 2018 and will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at church on Friday.

Anita “Gerry” Geraldine (Sigler) Bray, the daughter of Clifford and Viola (Jenkins) Sigler, was born on September 6, 1933 in Dougherty, Iowa. Gerry graduated from Floyd High School in 1951. On August 25, 1953, Gerry was united in marriage to Clarence Eugene “Gene” Bray at Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd.

Before her marriage she worked as a telephone operator in Charles City. During her marriage to Gene, Gerry was a homemaker and military spouse. Gerry also worked 24 years at Hyrda-Tile before her retirement.

Gerry was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd, VFW and the Heritage Club. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, reading, dancing, was a Hawkeye Basketball fan, and traveling with her family and taking many vacations. She loved watching her children and grandchildren at their sporting events and activities.

Living family members include her three children: Gregory (Dawn) Bray of Ionia, Lori (Ed) Cajthaml of Charles City and Jeffrey (Lisa) Bray of Sun Valley Lake; four grandchildren: Cory (Shelly) Anderegg, Casey (Sarah) Cajthaml, Lucas (Samantha) Bray and Hannah Bray (Christopher Hartman); five great-grandchildren: Jace, Colton, Keely, Carter and Kinnick; sister, Gloria Tolliver; brother, Bruce Sigler; special cousin, Melodee White; along with nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Bray on July 2, 2017; and sister, Barbara Rapp.
