Iowa driver stopped for 121 mph speeding in Chickasaw county

RURAL CHICKASAW COUNTY – An Iowa driver was stopped for speeding at 121 miles per hour on a rural Chickasaw county highway.

On Tuesday, February 13th, at approximately 5:39 PM, the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office received a driving complaint of a black Ford Mustang traveling northbound from Bremer County on Highway 63 at speeds in excess of 100 mph. Chickasaw County dispatch relayed the information to deputies and the vehicle was observed and clocked at a speed of 121 mph.

The deputy stopped the Mustang in the 1700 block of Highway 63.

The driver, 22-year-old Hamdan Ali Manea Mufreh Al Ahbabi of Iowa City, was subsequently arrested and transported to the Chickasaw County Jail where he was held on charges of:

1). Speeding (121/65 zone)
2). Reckless Driving
3). Eluding (aggravated Misdemeanor)
4). Expired Registration

Al Ahbabi made his initial appearance the following day and was held on $2,000.00 cash or corporate surety bond. The scheduled fine for 121 in a 65 zone is $443.00.
