LINCOLN, NE – The Iowa men’s basketball team dropped a Big Ten road contest to Nebraska, 98-84 Saturday.
Sophomores Tyler Cook and Jordan Bohannon each scored 24 points. They combined for 48 of Iowa’s 84 points in the game. Iowa trailed by 14 points at the half and by as many as 17 early in the second half.
Cook posted his fourth double-double of the season and sixth of his career (24 points & 10 rebounds). Bohannon equaled a season best with six 3-pointers made. Bohannon has made five or more 3-pointers in each of Iowa’s last four road games (Maryland, Illinois, Rutgers, and Nebraska).
Luka Garza’s 3-pointer pulled the Hawkeyes within 56-54 with 14:20 left in the game. But Iowa never got the lead as Nebraska pulled away. Nebraska shot 36 free throws while Iowa shot just 14. Jordan Bohannon made 2 free throws, extending his streak of consecutive makes to 26. The school record is 34 in a row by the late Chris Street.
Iowa’s (11-12, 2-8) next game is Tuesday against Minnesota (14-9, 3-7). Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. (CT) in Carver-Hawkeye Arena at Iowa City.
