MASON CITY – NIACC sophomore guard Taylor Laabs has been selected as the ICCAC women’s basketball player of the week for the week of Jan. 8-14.
Laabs, who also earned the league’s weekly award in November, scored 30 points with five rebounds and five steals in the No. 10 Lady Trojans’ 83-52 win over No. 14 Southeastern CC on Saturday. Laabs also connected on five 3-point goals against the Blackhawks giving her 99 career 3-point goals, which ranks eighth on the school’s all-time career list.
Laabs’ 30 points was one off her career high of 31 against Iowa Western earlier this season.
Laabs averages 15.4 points per game, which leads the Lady Trojans. She also leads the team with 36 3-point goals and ranks second on the squad with 47 assists and 33 steals.
NIACC (14-3 overall, 1-0 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday at No. 2 Kirkwood (15-3, 1-0), Game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
