MASON CITY – Two sisters from Rudd – one who once stole a Toys for Tots canister from a local pizza joint – tried their hand at stealing in Mason City and were promptly busted.
Mason City police were called to Walmart, 4151 4th Street SW, for a theft report on the evening of January 5 at about 7:51 PM. Officers arrived and after an investigation, arrested two female shoplifters – 28-year-old Korissa Christine Hormann and 26-year-old Kayleigh Rae Hormann – both of Rudd. Kayleigh Rae Hormann was charged with fifth-degree theft, possession of illegal substances and paraphernalia. Korissa Christine Hormann was charged with third-degree theft.
Both were taken to jail, booked, and soon released, pending a court date.
NIT reported back in 2013 that this duo was nabbed in connection to an incident at Shopko. The alleged shoplifter, later identified as Korissa Hormann ran away from employees. Another female, Kayleigh Hormann had allegedly accompanied her sister while inside the store and did not run when confronted by store employees. Police arrived as employees had learned the two women are sisters. In the ensuing investigation, police discovered multiple baggies of marijuana packaged apparently for sale in Kayleigh Hormann’s purse and she was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver. Kayleigh Hormann was caught on video in 2012 stealing a donation canister for Toys for Tots from the Mason City Little Caesars pizza shop. She later pled guilty to the crime – fifth-degree theft – and was ordered to pay $425.00 in fines, court fees and restitution.
