MASON CITY – A former Mason City man who was recently released from prison returned to the scene of an alleged crime at Southbridge Mall, but police were waiting on his return trip to the The Buckle and took him into custody.
Mason City police tell NIT that an employee of The Buckle in Southbridge Mall called on December 26 to report a fraudulent credit card transaction that occurred earlier that day. Police began investigating the unauthorized credit card use and they developed a “person of interest.”
The following day at 2:14 PM, Mason City police officers located this person of interest, 23-year-old Tyler Lee Donahoo, back inside The Buckle where he had been previously possibly conducting transactions. Officers converged on Donahoo inside the store and he allegedly resisted arrest but was taken into custody.
After an investigation, Donahoo was charged with:
– 3 counts of 5th Degree Possession of Stolen Property – items stolen from different victims (simple misdemeanor)
– Unauthorized Use of Credit Card (aggravated misdemeanor)
– Interference with Official Acts (simple misdemeanor)
– Possession of a Controlled Substance – suspected methamphetamine (serious misdemeanor)
– Possession Drug Paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)
Besides this incident, Donahoo had a valid Polk County Violation of Parole arrest warrant.
Donahoo was taken to CGSO jail. Police say the investigation is on-going, and anyone with more info on Donahoo’s activities is encouraged to call MCPD.
Records show Donahoo was sent to prison from a courtroom in Cerro Gordo county back on June 28, 2016. He had violated his probation in connection to his theft of a Yamaha dirt bike from Hawkeye Storage in Mason City back in December of 2012. He was released after serving about about 15 months of a 5-year prison sentence.
