Mason City woman hurt in car crash Saturday night

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman lost control of her vehicle Saturday night and crashed into a tree, leading to a trip to the hospital.

On Saturday night, December 30, 2017 at 10:29 PM, deputies from the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle personal injury accident just south of the intersection at 245th Street and Quail Avenue in Cerro Gordo County. Upon arrival, deputies found a 2017 Nissan Sentra down an embankment, resting against a tree. Brooke Sanchez-Peterson, age 41 of Mason City, was the driver and only person in the vehicle. Sanchez-Peterson was traveling southbound on Kentucky Avenue in Mason City which turns into Quail Avenue in the county when she lost control due to the icy road conditions. This caused Sanchez-Peterson to run the stop sign at the intersection, continuing down the embankment and striking a tree.

Sanchez-Peterson sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa for evaluation.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Mason City Fire Department.
