SUPERIOR, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man died Friday in an accident while working with a backhoe on a farm.
According to the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, the accident took place Friday, December 15, on a farm south of Superior, Iowa. Emergency responders were called to the scene at about 12:41 PM and discovered that 72-year-old Thomas Mart of rural Superior, was working with a tractor/backhoe. Mart was pinned in the backhoe portion of the machine. Lifesaving efforts were administered but were unsuccessful, authorities say. Mart was pronounced dead at the scene.
The DCSO was assisted on scene by the Superior Fire and Rescue, and Spirit Lake Ambulance.
