MASON CITY – A fire was reported in downtown Mason City Friday afternoon at machine shop.
Mason City firefighters were at Luke’s Central Machine Shop, located at 360 North Delaware Avenue, Friday afternoon. Sources tell NIT that the fire started when employees where taking a fuel tank out of a vehicle and draining the fuel into a container, which started on fire.
People working near downtown they could “smell the smoke block away… the whole block is blocked off.” Mason City ambulance and EMT were nearby.
Damage to the building did not appear to be severe, and there did not appear to be any injuries.
