Mason City man charged with felony after improvised weapon attack

MASON CITY – A Mason City man is behind bars, facing felony felony charges after he allegedly attacked a person using an improvised weapon.

Mason City police were dispatched to an assault incident on the morning of October 30. Officers arrived at 814 1/2 North Delaware Avenue at about 9:24 AM to conduct an investigation. As a result, police arrested 35-year-old Mike Lester Gale Nicholson, who lives at that address, on a charge of felony willful injury. Allegedly, Nicholson assaulted a male victim at a local residence, police tell NIT. The assault was without provocation and resulted in the willful injury charge. The injuries were to the victim’s head and torso, police say.

“I don’t have detail on the severity,” MCPD Chief Jeff Brinkley says. “Nicholson used an improvised weapon, not a designed weapon like a gun or knife.”

Nicholson remains in the Cerro Gordo county jail on $40,000 bond. He is also held on a US Marshall warrant.

He deserves to be put away for good this time. Everytime he gets out karma brings him back in.
