Mason City woman caught drunk driving twice – then goes to jail intoxicated

MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was caught drunk driving twice this past August – then showed up to serve her jail sentence intoxicated, police say.

Amy Marie Moore, age 41 of Mason City, was caught drunk driving on Friday, August 18. At about 6:40 PM that evening, Mason City police were called to the area of Mills Fleet Farm, 3200 4th Street SW. They were joined by a Cerro Gordo deputy. After an investigation, officers located the vehicle in question and the driver, Moore. As a result, she was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

Moore was caught again by Mason City police on August 24.

Moore eventually pled guilty to two counts of first-offense operating while intoxicated. She was sentenced to 365 days in jail with all but 5 days suspended – on both counts. She must serve 10 days, total. She must also pay $1,797.50 and $1,797.50 in fines and court fees for both crimes.

Moore reported to the county jail to serve her sentence on the afternoon of Friday, October 27. Cerro Gordo law enforcement say she was intoxicated and as a result, she was charged with public intoxication.
