NIACC soccer falls to Iowa Central in regional tournament

FORT DODGE – The NIACC soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Iowa Central in the opening round of the NJCAA Region XI tournament on Saturday at the Harlan Rogers Sports Complex.

Iowa Central took a 2-0 lead in the second half and added its third goal in the final minute to advance to the regional final four. The Tritons play at top-seed Indian Hills on Tuesday in the regional semifinals.

NIACC scored a goal by Niall Coulthard on an indirect kick to make it 2-1 with 10:37 remaining in the contest.

NIACC wrapped up the 2017 season with a record of 8-8. It’s the first time since the 2011 season that the Trojans have finished with at least a .500 record.
