Volunteers sought for tree planting projects in Mason City

MASON CITY – The public is invited to volunteer with two tree plantings coming up in Mason City.

The first planting is on Wednesday, October 4th at Roosevelt Elementary School starting at 9 am. Also participating is the 4th grade class and staff to plant 63 trees obtained through the Trees for Kids Grant Process.

The second planting is Friday, October 6th starting at the Family Video parking lot at 9 am to help plant 63 trees in the neighborhood south and west of this area. These trees were obtained through the Branching Out Program Grant process. We will be working with Janell Drumheller and the Alternative School Students.

Trees for Kids is administered by Iowa DNR and funded by Alliant Energy, MidAmerican Energy Company, Black Hills Energy, ITC Holdings Corporation, Trees Forever, Iowa Tree Farm Committee, and Iowa Woodland Owners Association.

Branching out is a partnership between Trees Forever and Alliant Energy.
