Northern Iowa man arrested for child endangerment after rolling car

RURAL PALO ALTO COUNTY, IOWA – A Northern Iowa man with an open container of alcohol crashed his vehicle, leading to his arrest and the hospitalization of an infant that was inside the car.

On Saturday, September 2nd, 2017, the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the 4600 block of 400th street for a report of a suspicious male subject walking with an infant. Upon investigation, it was determined that the male subject, 45-year-old Ker Ker of Storm Lake, Iowa, had been involved in an automobile accident in the 4800 block of 400th Street. Through the investigation, it was determined that Ker was driving a 2002 Honda Accord westbound in the 4800 block of 400th Street when he lost control of the vehicle and entered the south ditch. The vehicle proceeded to roll, coming to a stop in the bean field and landing on its wheels.

Ker and the infant exited the vehicle and began walking west on 400th street until they were located. Ker and the infant were both treated by the Palo Alto County Ambulance Service, with Ker being released with no injuries and the infant being transported to the Palo Alto County Hospital for further evaluation.
Damages to the vehicle are estimated at $5000.00.

Following an investigation into the accident, Ker was arrested for Child Endangerment – an Aggravated Misdemeanor, Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, Failure to Provide Insurance, Open Container, Failure to Maintain Control, and Failure to use a Child Restraint properly. Ker was transported to the Palo Alto County Jail without incident.
