Civil War re-enactment event returns to Mason City this weekend

MASON CITY – The annual Civil War re-enactment returns to East Park this weekend in Mason City.

The Mason City Civil War Reeenactment will take place in East Park, September 8th through the 10th. It is free to the public and there is something for everyone. The battle that is being reenacted this year is the Battle of Iuka, Mississippi. The battle will be re-enacted on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Those who attend can see medical demonstrations, camp life, live music, a military dress ball, ladies tea, a pirates’ treasure hunt and more.

There is a dance provided by the Camp Follower’s band on Saturday night. The soldiers are available all weekend in their camps to visit with people about what it was like during the Civil War. Food vendors will be on site, as well.
