MASON CITY – A Mason City man who committed a domestic assault last year is guilty of another assault and violating a no-contact order in the case for a third time.
Mason City police were dispatched for a domestic assault at 1:03 AM on Friday, July 14, 2017. Officers arrived at an apartment at 725 North Federal and encountered convicted domestic abuser Andrew Earl Lofton. After an investigation, officers arrested Lofton on charges of aggravated domestic assault, enhanced domestic abuse assault and violation of a no-contact order. That order stems from his arrest in June of 2016, when Lofton committed a domestic assault at 712 North Federal Avenue, likely against the same victim. He previously violated a no-contact order in that case two other times.
Loft, age 40, was later guilty of second-offense domestic abuse assault and given a two-day jail sentence and $320.50 in court costs for the domestic abuse charge. He must also serve 7 days in jail for violating the no-contact order.
