Kensett man guilty of drunk driving

MASON CITY – A Kensett man who cops sought after a driving complaint has been found guilty of drunk driving.

A Cerro Gordo deputy conducted a traffic stop on an attempt to locate vehicle at 10:37 PM Monday, May 1, 2017, near Highway 65 and 310th Street. After an investigation, both subjects in the vehicle were placed under arrest. The driver, 26-year-old Joseph James Buchite of Kensett, was charged with operating while intoxicated, open container of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license. The passenger, 32-year-old Mollie Kathleen Macdormott of Clear Lake, was wanted on warrants connected to an assault charge.

Buchite later pled guilty to first-offense operating while intoxicated. He was sent to jail for 7 days and ordered to pay $1,857.50 in fines and court fees. Charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, open container and driving with a suspended license were all dismissed.

Buchite was also guilty in May of fighting and disorderly conduct after he was charged by Mason City police; he was ordered to pay $542.10 in fines and court fees.
