Earlier, officers arrested 19-year-old Devon Matthew Reckner of Mason City in connection with this incident. Reckner was charged with first-degree robbery – a class B felony – and possession of burglar’s tool. He is currently awaiting a plea hearing set for July 10.

In response to the crime, Mason City police officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of East State Street shortly after noon today on a report that the resident had been assaulted by three men wearing masks.  The male victim told officers that he answered a knock at his door and when he opened the door three men wearing masks entered his home. The victim was assaulted and then held down by one suspect while the others searched his home. The suspects stole a small safe containing currency and fled the residence.
