MASON CITY – Mason City police are seeking leads on an alleged robbery that took place at a Mason City home today around noon.
Officers responded to a residence in the 1000 block of East State Street shortly after noon today on a report that the resident had been assaulted by three men wearing masks.
The male victim told officers that he answered a knock at his door and when he opened the door three men wearing masks entered his home. The victim was assaulted and then held down by one suspect while the others searched his home. The suspects stole a small safe containing currency and fled the residence.
The victim who was the only occupant of the home at that time was transported to the emergency room by private vehicle.
This case is currently under investigation. Anyone with information should contact the Mason City Police Department.

Smells real fishy to me. Three men wearing masks, in broad daylight entering a home on one of the busiest intersections in town? They knocked on the door? Perhaps posing as early trick or treaters. Assaulted and held down? Not likely. This stinks.
