Wanted Worth county felon busted after traffic violation in Mason City

MASON CITY – A Worth county man wanted on an out-of-county warrant was brought to jail after a traffic violation led to his arrest.

Nicolas William Oppman, age 36 of Manly, was tooling around Mason City after 2 AM on the morning of June 9, possibly breaking laws as he did so. A Mason City police officer spotted him traveling above the speed limit, leading the officer to attempt a traffic stop. However, Oppman allegedly failed to stop immediately. Eventually, Oppman’s vehicle stopped near President Avenue and 8th Street SW. After an investigation, Oppman was arrested for speeding, driving with a suspended license, eluding, operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent, and a warrant out of Webster county for disorderly conduct.

Oppman was taken to jail and soon released, pending June 27 arraignment.

Just one day prior, Oppman was arrested by Mason City police for trespassing. He pled guilty immediately and was fined. He was also guilty in May of disorderly conduct – fighting or violent behavior, again from a charge by Mason City police.

Oppman was sent to prison back in January of 2014 after a felony conviction for forgery. He was paroled in May of 2016.
