CLEAR LAKE – A teen was hospitalized Monday after his attempt to cross a busy Clear Lake street was interrupted by a car that struck him.
On Monday June 5, 2017 at approximately 3:15 PM, the Clear Lake Fire Department was dispatched to a car vs pedestrian accident at the intersection of North 8th Street and Highway 18 East in Clear Lake. A 14-year-old male juvenile was struck attempting to cross the highway by a vehicle turning east on to the highway from the south bound lane of North 8th street. Clear Lake Fire Dept. responded with 1 ambulance , 1 rescue truck, 6 firefighters and 2 medics.
The juvenile was transported to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa with what appeared to be non life threatening injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation.
Clear Lake Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Clear Lake Police Department and the Iowa State Patrol.
