CHARLES CITY – A Rudd woman who was caught stealing in Mason City is now accused of a new crime, this time in Charles City.
On May 12, 2017, a call was made to the Charles City police department to report a shoplifter at a store on the 900 block of Kelly Street. The suspect had left the store, but was located by officers in the 1100 block of Blunt Parkway due to detailed information given to police by an alleged witness. As a result of the investigation, 27-year-old Korissa Christine Hormann of Rudd was arrested for fifth-degree theft and taken to jail. She was released on a promise to appear in court on May 17, but failed to appear. There is now a warrant out for her arrest.
Hormann was arrested after a charge of third-degree theft was brought by Mason City police after a theft back in November of 2016. She was later guilty and put on probation for year and given 30 days in jail with all but 2 suspended. She was also ordered to pay $529.55 in court costs and fees. Hormann is now accused of violating her probation in the wake of her latest theft charge. She was also guilty of third-degree theft in Cerro Gordo county back in 2013.
