FOREST CITY – Police in Forest City are reporting fake currency in town that can fool many people and to be watchful.

The Forest City Police Department has been taking reports of counterfeit bills being used at local stores. Police say these bills are in the form of $20’s right now but could change soon. The bills will pass the pen test and have raised markings, but, they do not have the hologram or the small strip that runs the width through the bill. Another identify characteristic is the phony bills are also slightly smaller.

Police advice business owners to advise their employees that these bills are circulating and what to look for, and if a bill like this is used by a customer, to gather evidence and alert police.
