CLEAR LAKE – A Mason City school bus driver was cited after an accident Tuesday after school in Clear Lake.
On Tuesday May 9, 2017, at 3:20 pm the Clear Lake Police Department responded to a two-vehicle collision at US Highway 18 and Buddy Holly Place. The crash involved a Newman Catholic School Bus and a minivan.
Initial reports indicate the driver of the minivan, 64-year-old Stephen Chuck from Mason City, traveling westbound on Highway 18, stopped for the traffic light at the Buddy Holly Place intersection.
The school bus was also headed westbound on Highway 18 when it rear-ended the minivan. The school bus had 25 students on board that reported no injuries. The Clear Lake Fire Department assisted on scene. A school official also responded to the location of the crash.
The driver of the bus, 59 year old Michael Ringo from Mason City, was issued a citation for failing to stop in an assured clear distance.
