RURAL MASON CITY – Police searched for a vehicle and found their mark, leading to the arrest of a man and a woman.
A Cerro Gordo deputy conducted a traffic stop on an attempt to locate vehicle at 10:37 PM Monday, May 1, near Highway 65 and 310th Street. After an investigation, both subjects in the vehicle were placed under arrest. The driver, 26-year-old Joseph James Buchite of Kensett, was charged with operating while intoxicated, open container of alcohol, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with a suspended license. The passenger, 32-year-old Mollie Kathleen Macdormott of Clear Lake, was wanted on warrants connected to an assault charge.
Both persons were taken to the Cerro Gordo county jail. Macdormott must serve a 7-day jail sentence in connection an assault she committed in Mason City bacon September of 2016. She has also been wanted since April 12 in connection to violating a no-contact order in a domestic abuse case. She’ll face a hearing on May 9.
