Traffic stops by Spirit Lake police lead to drug arrests

SPIRIT LAKE, IOWA – Traffic stops by Spirit Lake police led to drug arrests this weekend.

On Saturday evening, approximately 11:50 PM, the Spirit Lake Police Department made a traffic stop on a blue 2007 Chevy Cobalt. The traffic stop occurred at the intersection of Peoria Ave and 10th St. in Spirit Lake. The driver of the Chevy Cobalt, 19 year old Desiree Moore of Spirit Lake, had a warrant for her arrest out of Dickinson County. The warrant was for possession of drug paraphernalia. Moore was placed under arrest. The Police Department then recovered marijuana and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle. The passenger of the vehicle, 19 year old Tate Evans also of Spirit Lake and Moore were both booked into the Dickinson County Jail on charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Saturday morning, approximately 2:15 AM, the Spirit Lake Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The traffic stop occurred at the intersection of Hwy 71 and 30th St. in Spirit Lake. The driver of the Jeep, 21 year old Jacob Simpson from Jackson, MN was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. The Spirit Lake Police Department recovered marijuana inside the vehicle. The owner of the Jeep, 20 year old Koral Hargan of Fairmont MN was issued a citation for possession of a controlled substance.
