Hampton police arrest man for sex abuse

HAMPTON, IOWA – Hampton police have arrested a man on sex abuse charges.

After an investigation, on April 20, 2017, 71-year-old Michael Lynn Rodemeyer Sr. of Hampton was arrested and charged with Two counts of Second Degree Sexual abuse, Class B Felonies by the Hampton Police Department and One count of Second Degree Sexual Abuse a Class B Felony and One Count of Third Degree Sexual Abuse a Class C Felony by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Rodemeyer was seen by the magistrate, had his initial appearance and was placed on a $200,000 dollar bond.

The charges stemmed from incidents that occurred over a two year period in Hampton and rural Franklin County.

The departments were assisted in the investigation by the Department of Human Services and the Child Protection Center.
