MASON CITY – A North Iowa man served his jail sentence for writing a bad check in Mason City.
Anthony Gerhard Hoffman of Ionia, Iowa, wrote a bad check to a Mason City business, police tell NIT, leading to a charge of felony second-degree theft. He later pled guilty to a reduced charge of fourth-degree theft in connection to a country top, reportedly, that cost over $3,900. There is a Tony Hoffman Construction company listed in Ionia, Iowa.
Hoffman was sentenced to 14 days in jail. He completed his sentence this weekend. He must also pay $4,617.25 in fines, fees and restitution.
Hoffman was also guilty of theft in Chickasaw county in 2015. Currently, he faces a felony second-degree theft charge in Black Hawk county.
