Charles City man crashes into pole during felony drunk driving crime

CHARLES CITY – Police took a man to jail this weekend after he crashed into a police while allegedly driving drunk.

On Sunday, April 2, 2017, after 3 AM in the morning, the Charles City police department investigated an accident near the 500 block of Allison Street. The investigation allegedly showed that 33-year-old Mario Marth of Charles City lost control of his 2006 Pontiac G6 as he turned onto Allison Street. He struck a light pole, which then snapped off, fell on the car and then into the street. The accident caused about $6,000, damage, police say.

Marth was caught and arrested on charges of felony third-offense operating while intoxicated, violation of a restricted license and failure to maintain control.

Marth was last caught drunk driving in 2010, again in Floyd county.
