Jane Ellen Biggers, 66, died peacefully at her home on Friday, March 31, 2017.

Jane’s family and friends will be gathering at Hauser Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. A private family burial will take place at Riverside cemetery in Charles City at a later date.

Jane Ellen (Rich) Biggers was born on October 2, 1950, to Thomas and Elaine (Schmitt) Rich in Mason City, Iowa. She grew up in the Mason City area, attending Mason City High school and finished her Junior and Senior years at Charles City High School. After graduation, she attended the University of Northern Iowa majoring in Home Economics for three years, where she joined a sorority.

Jane was married in June of 1971 and to this union her daughters: Jennifer and Courtney were born. The family moved all over the United States with the Airforce; from Colorado to Washington, Virginia, and New Mexico, finally returning to her hometown Charles City in 1979. Throughout her life Jane worked in a variety of capacities; starting at Floyd County Memorial Hospital, then moving on to State Farm Insurance, Sara Lee, New Hampton Hospital, and most recently in Hampton Iowa at Long Term Medical Supply.

Jane will be remembered as a caring daughter and sister and as the most devoted mother and grandmother. She was a master seamstress who also loved to garden and watch romantic comedies. Because Jane hated to cook she also became a big fan of McDonalds. She enjoyed country music along with her favorites: the Beach Boys and Barbara Streisand. More than anything else, Jane loved her family, and spending time with them.

Jane is survived by her daughters: Courtney Vinson of Eldora and Jennifer (Matt) Hill of Iowa Falls; grandchildren: Mary Jane Halder, Ryan Halder, Ashley Halder, Alexis Hill, Makenzie Hill, Caroline Hill, Elaine Jane Vinson, and Nora Vinson; siblings: Susan (Mark Johnson) Rich of Hastings, Minnesota, and David (Vicky) Rich of Algona; lifelong friend: Diane Bloomingdale Lysen of Edina Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews.

She was welcomed home by her parents who preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jane’s name may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
