DUBUQUE, IOWA – An Iowa man is behind bars, accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death.
On March 31, 2017, at 2:19 AM, Dubuque Police & Fire personnel responded to 870 Kane Street on the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult female inside the residence with injuries consistent with being stabbed. Paramedics declared the female dead at the scene. She was later identified as 21-year-old Samantha J. Link of 870 Kane Street. An adult male was also present at the residence and was identified as Link’s boyfriend, 25-year-old Fontae C. Buelow, also of 870 Kane Street.
Police believe Link and Buelow got into an altercation at the residence that culminated in Buelow allegedly stabbing Link and killing her. A knife was recovered at the scene.
Buelow was transported to the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center where was interviewed by investigators and ultimately charged with first-degree murder. He was additionally charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Buelow remains incarcerated in the Dubuque County Jail pending an initial court appearance.
First-degree murder is a class A felony punishable by life in prison.
