MASON CITY – A Forest City man is facing a gun charge after law enforcement was called to the NIACC campus recently to deal with his despondent state of mind.
On February 21, 2017, all area law enforcement agencies were notified from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department of an attempt to locate on a grey 2005 Dodge Caravan. This was in regards to a welfare check on the adult male driver who was last known to be in the Hanlontown area. At about 10:32 AM, Mason City Police were notified by Winnebago County that the subject in question was now on the North Iowa Area Community College school grounds at 500 College Drive. Upon arrival at the campus, officers quickly located the subject walking outside. He was transported to the Mercy Hospital East Campus without incident.
Law enforcement media reports indicated the man was 20-year-old Andrew Jordan Knudtson out of Forest City. Reportedly, a handgun was found in his car. As a result, Mason City police charged Knudtson with felony carrying weapons on school grounds. He was arrested last week and now awaits a March 10 hearing.
