CLEAR LAKE – A small fire this week led to the evacuation of a Clear Lake nursing home.
On January 4, 2017 and about 7:5s AM, the Clear Lake Fire Department was dispatched to the Oakwood Care Center, located at 400 Highway 18 West, for a reported fire in the basement. The Clear Lake Fire Department responded with 1 Ladder Company, 1
Command Vehicle and 1 Ambulance.
Upon arrival, the fire had already been extinguished by the maintenance employee, and residents had been moved to safe locations with in the building by staff.
The Clear Lake Fire Department was on scene for approximately 90 minutes ventilating the building. The fire was determined to be caused by failure of stored batteries. There were no injuries.
The Clear Lake Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Clear Lake Police Department.
