Mason City man seriously hurt in pickup rollover accident

ambulanceMASON CITY – A Mason City man was seriously hurt Tuesday night when his pickup truck rolled several times in the roadway.

The accident took place Tuesday night, October 18 around 7:32 PM at the 190 mile marker on Highway 18 as the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single vehicle rollover with injuries at this location. A 2004 Ford F150 was found to have rolled several times in the roadway, causing serious injuries to the driver, Steven Paul Barnish, age 54 of Mason City. Barnish was transported to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa by Mason City Fire Medics. The Nora Springs Fire Department and Iowa State Patrol assisted at the scene. The accident is still under investigation, and the cause of the accident is unknown at this time.

US 18 westbound traffic was closed as the accident scene was tended to, between County Road S70 and County Road S56. The roadway was reopened to traffic at 8:41 PM.
