UPDATED: Thornton scaffolding accident causes life-threatening injury

ambulanceTHORNTON, IOWA – One person sustained life-threatening injuries in a scaffolding accident Monday night in Thornton.

At about 6:44 PM on September 19, Cerro Gordo County Deputies responded to a report of a male subject who had fallen off of a scaffolding at 613 Main Street in Thornton, which appears to be a single-family house.

Thornton Fire and First Responders and Mason City Fire Medics also responded to the scene. The subject sustained life-threatening injuires as a result of the fall and was transported by Air Care medical helicopter to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa.

Treated at the scene was Joseph Lauritson, age 58, of Radcliffe, Iowa. Mr. Lauritson was transported by Air Care medical helicopter to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa were he is currently listed in critical condition.

Assisting the Cerro Gordo County Sheriffs Department was Thornton Fire and First Responders, Mason City Fire Medics, and Mercy Air Care.
