Bremer county sheriffs issue citations and warnings in focus on drunk drivers

cited-police-featured1WAVERLY, IOWA – The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office participated in the August 23rd- September 5th, 2016 sTEP wave as part of a grant from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau (GTSB) for Impaired Driving Countermeasures to combat impaired driving.

During this wave, the Bremer County Sheriff’s Office had 4 arrests and 2 warnings for OWI, 2 citations and 2 warnings for no seatbelt, 1 citation and 1 warning for no child restraints, 174 citations and 48 warnings for speeding, 1 warning for stop sign violation, 6 citations for driving without a license, 2 citations for suspend or revoked, 5 citations and 10 warnings for no registration, 10 citations and 6 warnings for dark window violations, 1 warning for texting, 7 citations and 14 warnings for other traffic violations, 16 warnings for equipment violations, 1 citation and 35 warnings for no proof of insurance and 1 citation and 1 warning for move over violation. We also had 4 arrest warrants served, 1 Felony arrest, 4 narcotics charges, 18 motorist assists, 6 property damage accidents and 2 personal injury accidents.

The Bremer County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the motoring public to not drink and drive. If you choose to drink, call for a ride from a friend or use the SaferRide mobile app (free from the Apple iTunes store and Google Play) that can help users call a taxi or a friend for a ride home. We would like all motorists to get to their destinations safely this summer.
