MASON CITY – A large street fight in downtown Mason City last year that led to the arrest of four persons resulted in three guilty pleas – and lots of unpaid fines.
According to Mason City police, officers responded to an emergency call about what they described as a “large disturbance” at the 000 block of North Delaware Avenue in Mason City at 2:00 AM on April 4, 2015. The area is between the east parking lot of Southbridge Mall and several businesses across the street, including a night club there that is now closed.
“Numerous subjects were fighting in the street,” police said. Sources told NIT the subjects may have been drinking, and words were exchanged.
“A lot of profanities,” a woman said. “These people were drunk, and basically belligerent. It wasn’t pretty. I watched from a distance.”
Police arrived on the scene quickly, and an officer suffered an undisclosed injury while separating the subjects during the altercation.
