Citizens report potential creeper with binoculars watching teens at Rudd lake

RUDD – Law enforcement in Floyd county would like to talk to a man with binoculars allegedly watching teens swimming in the Rudd lake.

NIT was alerted to the situation by a reader, who described the incident. He said “there was a guy (Monday) who was at the Rudd Lake and was sitting in his truck with binoculars watching teen girls get out of the lake.”

The source said the man may have been in his 40’s “and got confronted about it … he said he can do what he wants and sped off.”

The Floyd county sheriff’s office confirmed they are investigating the matter, which may have actually spanned two days – Monday and Tuesday.

Floyd county sheriff Rick Lynch told NIT that he looked for a call on Monday, August 8 “and there was not one, but there was one at 8:30 PM on Tuesday the 9th that stated that there was a red truck with a suspicious male watching kids. The reporting party stated that this happened around 4 PM and when her daughter went to write down the license plate the guy saw her and took off. She thought she should report this because she saw on face book there was a guy on the 8th sitting in a truck with binoculars and she thought she should report it. The guy was a white male with grey hair with a pony tail.”

Sheriff Lynch said “we don’t know if anything illegal took place, but we want to make contact with the subject to find out what he was doing and to identify him. We are following up on a lead that may help identify this person which then we can talk to him to see what he is up to.”

The lead he is referring to is likely the license plate, which was turned in this week.
