MASON CITY – A man who police say brutally beat and killed a kitten has been caught on a second arrest warrant and jailed.
Jerrick Simon Rinnels, age 28, was wanted on a charge of aggravated misdemeanor animal abuse for an incident that allegedly took place on May 27, 2016. Police say Rinnels allegedly grabbed a kitten from a person and slammed the kitten against a solid object and threw it against a wall. Police were called but Rinnels fled before officers arrived. The kitten died a short time later before it could be transported to a veterinarian.
Rinnels was located and arrested by Mason City police a few days later on an arrest warrant. He soon posted $2,000 surety bond and was released from jail.
A couple weeks later, another warrant was issued for Rinnels’ arrest when he failed to appear for a court arraignment on June 13. He was finally brought to jail July 16 and held on $5,000 bond this time, as his previous bond he posted has been forfeited. A new arraignment date of July 26 has been set as he remains in the jail.

If the allegation is true only a psychopath would be grinning/smiling about a heinous act as that..
He is coming for a whiner like you.
This young man needs to be out of society. I hope he gets to feel the same kind of pain some day that kitten felt when he killed it. Maybe he will fall over a fence at a zoo and be mauled by some big cats. That is what I would call justice.
…I see they have mis-spelled his name…it isn’t “Jerrick”…it’s “JERK”!
Why bond at all? He’s a murderer.
